Brecon Town Band
Brecon Town Band is an active and versatile group that performs between 15 and 25 engagements annually, bringing live music to a variety of events and festivals. The band is a regular feature at local celebrations, including the Brecon and Llanigon Shows, Llandovery Sheep Festival, Hay-on-Wye Food Festival, Hay-on-Wye Christmas Food Festival, and the Brecon Food Festival.
Tenby Harbour is also a favourite venue, with the band performing there most years. Known for their strong rhythmic outdoor performances, the band also delights audiences with carols and festive tunes in Bethel Square, Brecon, in the lead-up to Christmas.
Brecon Town Band applied to the Audrey Tyler Trust for funding to service and, where necessary, repair their stock of brass instruments. The majority of these instruments were purchased in the late 1990s with Lottery funding, with additional instruments inherited from a Concert Band that had disbanded.
To prolong the playability of these instruments, they required professional servicing by a brass instrument technician. The servicing process also included ultrasonic cleaning to remove any bacteria buildup on interior surfaces. As a result, the entire brass instrument stock is now in excellent playing condition and will remain so for many years to come.
